Gold Coast Griffith campus (conference venue) is centrally located west of Southport and north-west of Surfers Paradise, easily accessible by car, bus and tram. An excellent network of public transport exists connecting the Gold Coast and Brisbane. See the following website https://translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/maps for the entire South East Queensland tram, bus and light rail network operated by Translink. For getting to the venue from the Brisbane airport, participants can use the yellow Airport and Gold Coast line, i.e., the Airtrain, and transfer to G:link at Helensvale station (G:link is the light rail, in the bottom right corner of the map, also marked yellow). Monday to Friday, G:link runs every 7.5 minutes (7 am to 7 pm) or 15 minutes (7 pm to midnight) and AirTrain has services every 15 minutes during peak time. See full schedule and frequency on G:link timetable website.
The G: light rail system runs from Broadbeach to Helensvale train station and stops right outside Griffith University Gold Coast campus and is the best option for getting around the Gold Coast. See here for information and location of the Griffith University station.
All public transport from/to Gold Coast requires the purchase of a Go Card to pay for fares. Translink provides an electronic travel card, the seeQ card, for visitors to Queensland which allows you to travel for 3 or 5 consecutive days using G:Link tram, bus, ferry and train services. You can purchase a 3-day card for $79 or 5-day card for $129. Purchases can be made online or at specified retailers. Go to this Translink page for more information and to purchase the seeQ Card. It also includes up to 2 Airtrain trips, which you can use for getting from and to the Brisbane airport.
How to use go seeQ card
Always touch on and touch off. As you board a bus, enter a train or tram station or platform you will need to touch your go seeQ card flat to the card reader. Only remove your card from the reader when you see a green or amber light and a beep is sounded. This will signal you have used your card correctly. You will need to repeat this process as you exit the vehicle or station.
